yin yoga

Me, the Yin teacher. I don’t teach you the perfect pose. I don’t demand your legs or hands must be in a certain alignment because no two bodies are the same. I teach you how to find a healthy and appropriate approach on target areas. I teach you to find how you feel during a pose.

I don’t teach you to make effort to exert your muscles because the home of Yoga is in your joints and connective tissues. The power of the Yin practice is in time, not effort. Invest and you see magic. I don’t teach you to run away from your edge of discomfort, but to have courage to lean in and stay with it (different from pain) and the reason for long holds when they are a part of the practice because the way to transcend any obstacle is to take them as part of your path. You learn to smile and make friends with them.

I don’t teach you to try your hardest to reach your maximum range of motion because healing only occurs when you are in a state of acceptance and surrender. I don't teach you Yoga to lose weight because I'll be lying to you with my eyes wide open. Yin is connecting with ourselves. connecting with our emotions. And how they resonate within our bodies. It is an emotional experience. I don’t tell you to stop crying on your mat because release of emotions is one of the signs your Yoga is working. I talk about meridians, why yin poses look like some hatha poses but have different names, about the difference between Yin and Restorative. Why we release our muscles and not engage them.

I mix different yet complimentary tools in my teachings (e.g., myofascial release, acu point release, yoga conditioning, and energy awareness) because they serve a purpose. I explain the science behind what I teach because I don't believe in blind faith. I don’t judge you if you need props to support your practice I don’t force you to wake up should you fall asleep in class during “Shavasana” because in my love-based approach to teaching, respecting the needs of your body is my top priority. If you feel tired and fall asleep in class then that is what your body needs — rest

Finally, I don’t dictate you must do everything my way (unless you are about to injure yourself) because I am more interested in you learning to listen and respect your body than in kowtowing to my deluded ego. This is the kind of teacher I am and these values I hold dear in my heart when I take the seat of the teacher.

The joy I feel when I see the glowing faces of students at the end of the class is way more fulfilling than closing a multi-million deal, so despite the challenges and set-backs on my path, I feel I am where I am meant to be at this point and I pray for strength and courage to persevere my calling.

Can't wait to connect with you.
